The contract included modifications and upgrading the existing wastewater treatment plant, and the construction of a new facility to treat approximately half the waste water flows.

Key features of the project:

• Transfer of approximately half the flow to full treatment (8,813 m³/d) following preliminary screening and grit removal at the existing facility.
• Primary settlement in two circular sedimentation tanks
• Secondary biological treatment using a four basin CASS™ SBR process
• Sludge thickening and storage of waste activated and primary sludge from both the existing and the new works.
• Control room, workshop and office accommodation
