Project Description:

The project included the design, construction, procurement and commissioning of a new 40,000 p.e. wastewater treatment plant for the town of Montrose to meet European UWWTD and Bathing Water / Bathing Beach legislation. The project will provide increased environmental quality to the Montrose Basin and local bathing beaches.

Features of the project include:

  • New high level inlet works with 6 mm screening and grit removal
  • Primary settling tanks
  • Two 24 meter diameter CASS™ SBR process basins with removable aeration grids
  • Final effluent pumping station and tertiary lagoon
  • Sludge thickening and storage
  • Fully automated plant controls (SCADA / telemetry, PLC / MCC control)

Design Flow:             2.4 MGD (8,993 m3/d)

Influent Conditions: BOD 219 mg/L, SS 187 mg/L, TKN 28 mg/L, NH3-N 19 mg/L, P 7 mg/L

Effluent Limits:         BOD 25 mg/L, TSS 30 mg/L at 95 percentile spot samples
